We are mere days away from the premiere of House of the Dragon, and HBO is giving us one more trailer to remind us that the show will, in fact, have dragons. And also fire. And also a lot of actors in a lot of wigs.

A Mirror Mended
While House of the Dragons appears to be relatively smaller in scope than Game of Thrones — it’s focused on a single family’s strife, after all, although that family happens to control Westeros and, you know, have dragons—this trailer appears to promise that there will be big battles in the show as well.
With, of course, dragons.
Co-showrunners Ryan Condal and Miguel Sapochnik have also promised that there will be at least 17 dragons in the first season—so many that Matt Smith, who plays the many-wigged Daemon Targaryen—forgot some of their names.
How the series balances the political machinations at the Red Keep with battles chock full of dragons remains to be seen. The show has almost as large a human ensemble as it has dragons—in addition to Smith includes Paddy Considine as King Viserys, Rhys Ifans as his Hand, Otto Hightower, Milly Alcock and Emma D’Arcy as the young and older versions of Princess Rhaenyra; Emily Carey and Olivia Cooke as the young/older Alicent Hightower; Fabien Frankel as Ser Criston Cole; Eve Best as Princess Rhaenys, and Steve Toussaint as Lord Corlys Velaryon.
House of the Dragon premieres on HBO at 9:00 p.m. on Sunday, August 21. It will also stream on HBO Max.
